It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our friend, colleague, and fellow patient advocate, Reidar Nordby.

With his passing, Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE) has lost not only a dear friend but also a valued Board member since 2023, who contributed to the growth and development of our organisation.

He was a dedicated patient advocate who approached life with resounding hope and optimism. We are deeply grateful for his tireless work to improve the lives of people living with myeloma.

A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Reidar worked in the private sector until 1988, when he was appointed CEO of the Norwegian National Lottery, a position he held until the end of 2007. During this time, he also served as President of the World Lottery Association for six years, gaining valuable experience in leading an international organisation. Additionally, he served as Consul for Sweden in Norway for 20 years.

As a myeloma patient himself, Reidar became a member of the National Board of the Norwegian Blood Cancer Association in 2021, dedicating his time to advocacy and support for others affected by the disease.

We will forever be grateful for Reidar’s commitment to MPE and the broader patient community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and closest friends and wish them strength and comfort during this difficult time.
