150 patients, clinicians and advocates gathered in Warsaw for a landmark hemato-oncology forum

On 13–14 December in Warsaw, the Carita Foundation hosted its Hemato-Oncology Patient Forum, bringing together 150 participants including patients, clinicians, pharmaceutical representatives and volunteers.

The event marked the 15th anniversary of the Carita Foundation and the 35th anniversary of the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF), which co-organised the Forum alongside MPE.

The programme featured international experts and frequent MPE collaborators, including Dr. Hermann Einsele, Dr. Charlotte Pawlyn, Dr. Dominik Dytfeld, Snežana Doder, MPE Treasurer and MPE’s own Eilidh Duncan, Head of Patient Research at MPE. Key sessions included an American Society Haematology (ASH), update, a discussion on CAR-T therapy versus bispecific antibodies and topics addressing young myeloma patients and legal advocacy for patient rights. MPE President Barbara Leonardi moderated sessions on young patients and legal advocacy.

The Forum strengthened international collaboration with representatives from Serbian and Croatian patient organisations, as well as international organisations like MPE, IMF and the World Patients Alliance.

MPE was honoured to receive an award for multi-year cooperation with the Carita Foundation, presented to Barbara Leonardi.

The event received national media coverage on Poland’s public broadcaster TVP, with a 3-minute segment on national TV, raising awareness of myeloma and novel therapies across the country.
