Aimed at patients, carers and patient advocates, as well as to a general audience, the webinar will provide basic knowledge on the topic of cost-effectiveness analysis in decision-making (including health technology assessment) on new medicines.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Frederick Thielen joining us for this webinar. Frederick is Assistant Professor at the Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management (ESHPM, Erasmus University Rotterdam), Senior Scientific Researcher at the Trimbos institute in Utrecht and International Programme Director of the European Master’s in Health Economics and Management (Eu-HEM). His research activities focus on health economics and outcomes studies, with a particular focus on cancer care, mental health, and planetary health. Originally trained as a nurse, he worked for several years at the internal medicine ward of the University Hospital Aachen (Germany), bringing valuable clinical experience to his later work in policy and research.
For this webinar, Frederick will take the audience with low or no previous knowledge of health economics though one of the fundamental concepts used in medicine access and reimbursement decisions: cost-effectiveness analysis.
This is an educational webinar, organised as part of the ASCERTAIN project, which works to improve affordability and accessibility to innovative health technologies across Europe. – no previous health economics knowledge is needed to attend!
